Phase Two Statutory Consultation
The Parish Council has been advised of the Phase Two Statutory Consultation for Great North Road Solar and Biodiversity Park. The information provided by the company is outlined in full below. The documents referred to are available to download at the end of the information.
We are pleased to announce that today (Thursday 9th January), Elements Green has launched Phase Two (statutory) Consultation on proposals for Great North Road (GNR) Solar and Biodiversity Park – a new solar and energy storage park located to the northwest of Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire. Elements Green welcomes feedback on the updated proposals from communities across the site areas and is committed to undertaking a transparent and rigorous consultation process, which also involves engaging with the local community, local planning authorities, interest groups and statutory consultees.
This stage of consultation will run for six weeks until Thursday 20th February 2025. During this time, we will be seeking views on our proposals for GNR Solar and Biodiversity Park, which will include our updated proposals, evolved environmental developments, the findings of our Preliminary Environmental Information Report (PEIR) as well as further details of the community benefits programme known as NG+. For more information on NG+ please visit https://ngplus.uk/
With a potential generation capacity of around 800 megawatts (MW) AC of solar energy, the GNR Solar and Biodiversity Park has the potential to meet the power needs of circa 400,000 homes, equivalent to 100 per cent of the homes in Nottinghamshire. Subject to being consented and becoming operational, the scheme would make a significant contribution towards decarbonising the UK by generating clean, affordable, home-grown electricity. It would also support UK energy security and contribute to tackling the cost-of-living crisis through the reduction of household energy bills.
Elements Green will be holding a series of in-person and online exhibition events, providing opportunities for the community and key stakeholders to find out more information about the proposals and provide their feedback.
